Breastfeeding

OK, so I know this can be a touchy personal subject for most but i'd love to hear everyone's view on it! I mean I know back in the day it wasn't so popular b/c doctors didnt encourage it....but now a days its pretty clear as to why its so beneficial!!!

I am still breastfeeding, Autumn is almost 7 mos old and to date she hasn't been sick & never been in less than 60% of her growth charts at her well check-ups. Now I know I could just be " lucky " but I believe that the breastmilk is quite the reasoning behind her quick development and strength.

But I will tell you, the classes do not prepare you enough!!! They pretty much rely on the fact its " natural" and the baby should " just latch on" but sometimes...its quite the opposite :)

Now im not judging in the women who just couldnt do it, and may have had lactation problems, this is just for the ones who want to give it a whirl!

Formula is fine, it works, enough said, I am an advocate for breastfeeding but I understand :)

Autumn latched very well but in the wrong spots, haha. she'd go too much to oneside or not be comfotable and squirm...I had lactation nurses in and out of my room every hr! I was sweating bullets/crying/tired...you get the picture! I couldn't believe how unprepared I felt. My poor Allen, he just had to stand there and let me yell at him as he tried to help me out!

Thank God for Allen, if it wasnt for him helping and encouriging me to push forward with it and keeping at ease as I struggle to do whats best for our girl!!! Idk if I would have been as successful as I am now as a breastfeeding mother!

Ladies, if you wanna do it, You can! But understand that you have to commit to keep trying especially when you really wanna make that bottle!!! yeah its easier, but you are whats best! I know you are tired, thats why hubbies need to step up! I had SIX pillows surrounding me every two hrs, to help me position and feel comfy! I would at least two wks before you get the hang of it, now i walk around holding her and breastfeeding, and if I'm feeling extra daring, sometimes only with one hand!!!

Feel free to share your story :)

I need to work from Home! Please help!

OK, so I been noticing a lot of moms working from home .... Whats their secret??? I don't wanna leave Autumn, shes attached, i'm attached, enough said! I was thinking of making this into my own website/ making hairbow/headbands/ painting and designing frames/cleaning houses/ walking dogs etc. I just want to be able to be with her!!! Any advice???

Thanks!!!

Family

So family isn't always perfect and in fact half the time we end up with the family we choose and not the one we were born with. But what if you lost the family you were born with to tragedy and the family you end up with, even though you love them it just isn't where you feel at home? But on top of all that you start your own family and its even more apparent that you just want to feel connected to what little you have left of your orginal family???

Confusing huh?

Any Advice

please tell me why.....?

Can someone please give me an update as to  why some people believe it isn't necessary to use a wipe after your child has peed? Before putting on a new diaper? Would you wanna put on new underwear without wiping or being dry? I don't think so....can someone say diaper rash???

Post Partum OCD/ Depression

PPD in any form is Serious! A lot of Moms experience a little after the baby is born for about two weeks aka Baby Blues...but plenty experience it longer and have no idea whats happening and they feel alone because they do not know who to turn to. Sometimes its a matter of denial, sometimes a mom is too scared to reach out because they don't want to sound crazy and sometimes they just try to get through it by themselves!!!

I was one of the moms who was " lucky enough" to experience ppocd, it started very vague from not wanting anyone to hold autumn but myself and Allen, to crying with anxiety that something would happen to her b/c of my shaky past w/my grandparents & mom passing away and losing significant people in my life who I loved more than anything :( to feeling like she is just to good to be true and I couldn't have possibly created something so beautiful and pure!!! Then having anxiety that something may happen to me b/c of my unforeseen medical issues that came to light shortly after she was born. But if it wasn't for my Mimi who recognized 2wks after having autumn that something wasn't right and helping me get the strength to reach out, i may have still been in denial lol :)

I knew how i felt, which was loving and trying to do everything to protect Autumn but i couldn't control my anxiety. And a lot of it stems from my growing up situations that never seem to bother me until after she was born!!! And I knew that this was not my fault and that as long as I reach out and do everything that I can to get the help I need, I will get through this. So please if you know some one or you've had a similar experience, know that there are a lot of resources and ways to get help and what works for one doesn't always work for another but also to remember that THIS WILL PASS! But reach out for help until it does, b/c if you try and wait it out it can progress into a deeper stage and the longer it may take to get through it...but you CAN & you WILL!!!

Hope to see you there!!! :)

The difference between now and then!

Being in the generation of new mommies, I find that our way is almost completely different from the way our parents and grandparents did things. And I don't know about you but I like it! I mean now we are Breastfeeding, Co sleeping, and not using the cry it out method. What are things you do differently than say your mom or grandma did???

1st Timer!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Christina, and I am a new mommy to my beautiful daughter Autumn! Who is almost 7 months old! I <3 being a Mother, I believe its one of the most selfless jobs a person can commit to and I am so excited for this new journey and chapter in my life. Part of the reason for me starting this blog is not only to connect with other mothers but to also let mothers know that there are millions of right ways to raise your children, so if you are like me and hate it when certain spectators give their unwanted two cents about they way you are doing things or handling situations, this is where you can vent with me, and talk to other moms. Because lets face it, we are all scared of not knowing what to do ( especially us "new mommies") so we go purely off of our ______??? That's right, Instincts!!!  hence the name Motherly Instincts!
